General Description

First walking day! And what a day. Don’t let the lack of ascent and descent deceive you, this is a rough day. Mainly because of the day’s length.

Most of the day we will walk on bike paths, with a fair amount of asphalt roads, a real bummer. There are no path markings, but we did find yellow triangles that mark the bike path, you can use those.

We generally walk along the Isar River. We walk against the river flow, the river starts in the Karwendel Mountains and goes north, while we press south.

It is likely you will meet many bikers on the road. And if you got some luck you might encounter some people rafting on the river, using huge rafts and making a BBQ on the water, really cool stuff (check the photos).

Good luck on your first day! Don’t let the length bring you down. We (and many other hikers) think that the first 2 days are harder than the mountain days :)

Sleeping: The ending point is a village, so there are many options, we stayed at Hotel Gasthof Humplbraeu.
