General Description
After the last few hard days we get an easy one, a day full of descents (none of them too hard). Today we also cross into Italy!
The descent starts in a rocky path, in some point the rocks form a real staircase (was probably built by man).
After about 4 hours walk, mostly on rocky paths we reach the Austria – Italy border. Near the border (on the Italian side) we find the Pfitscher-Joch-Haus hut, which is the oldest private hut in south Tyrol (1882). I recommend stopping there for lunch.
From the hut we continue with another descent, at first on a wide mountain bike road and then on a steeper hiking path. Another one and a half hours and we reach the village Stein.
Stein is probably the smallest village in the world, there are 2 families there, and both have hotels.
Sleeping: there are 2 options in Stein 1. Gasthof Stein +39 0472 630130 2. Pension Barthof +390472630128.
We stayed at Gasthof Stein, it was really nice.
