A day of ups and downs.
Straight from the hut we ascend to the mountain pass Glaswandscharte, about an hour walk till we reach it. From there we can enjoy for the first time the view of rows of mountains laying before us to the south.
From the mountain pass we start to descend in a steep trail (there is also an option to go down on a wide, less steep road). At the end of the descent, which moderate with time we reach the village Jachenau.
One of the things we learn during this descent is to take the estimate times shown on the signpost with a grain of salt. We have seen signposts that shows a time identical to the signpost before them, and sometimes a larger time (WTF?).
Jachenau is a good place to stop for a meal in the beer house, you can’t miss the house, it is just in front of you when you enter the village. From Jachenau we go south, it is a bit hard to find the path again, we wasted some time there looking for the way, it is best to ask people around you.
Once we get back on the trail, we immediately start a steep ascent to another mountain pass. From the top we can already see the “village” we sleep in tonight.
We descend inside a wooded area, in a path that zigzag down with many many turns. After each of those turns you can see the village getting closer.
Eventually we reach Vorderriss, which is probably some kind of small village, made out of a few houses (one of them being a hotel).
Sleeping: Tonight we will sleep in the hotel in Vorderriss, a place called Gasthaus Post Vorderriß (It is a good time to mention that the “ß” just sounds like double “s”). The hotel got a traveler room (dormitory) with a few beds, electricity and hot water shower. The sleeping and breakfast cost 22 euros.
One important thing to know about this place: It is closed on Thursday, all that means is that there is no food there that day (so if you get there on Thursday, like we did, buy food in Jachenau). Because it is closed on Thursday the owners might not be there, so that is what you do: go to the building on the left of the main building (that is where the traveler room is), get inside, go up the stairs and pick a bed. You will pay for the staying in the morning, after breakfast.
