General Description
As mentioned in the previous day, it is best to go for another variation in days 7 and 8 (yesterday and today), and here’s the reason: Today starts with a 4 hours climb on a narrow car road. After the walk from Vorderriss to Hinterriss on day 5 we realized that walking on car roads is not our thing, we came to hike in nature. So after about one hour walk we hitchhiked to the point where the trail enters nature again – that is the army camp Lager Walchen.
From Lager Walchen we enter a wooded path, number 314, that will take us around 600 meters up. near the end of the path we will come out of the woods and reach the hut.
It should be noted that the walk on 314 is in a military fire zone (practice zone), there is a guard at the entrance of the camp that will be able to tell you if there is a practice going on right now. Luckily for us, when we got there, there was no practice but fellow hikers told us they had to wait 2 hours there.
Sleeping: Lizumer Huette of the Ausrian Alpine Club. A modern hut with great hospitality and awesome food (Italian chef!). We got to spend 2 days in the hut (next day weather was shitty). They also have dog there, and not just any dog, a 78 kilograms dog (we guessed 80), you can find him in the pictures below.
